Parent training refers to the involvement of parents and/or caregivers in the treatment process. This may include sharing session notes, videotaping sessions, and having parents implement parts of the training session. Parent training doesn't have to be time consuming or difficult, but it is an important part of what we do. Research has consistently shown that there are more positive outcomes to therapy sessions when parents and/or caregivers are involved in the teaching process. With effective parent training, we can promote the maintenance and generalization of the skills that are taught in our groups.

We offer monthly training sessions for parents and/or caregivers to attend. These sessions focus on a broad topic, and do not address specific or individualized behaviors. The goal of these monthly training sessions is to provide parents and/or caregivers with useful information on a topic that they may then want to delve deeper into. Due to the nature of these training sessions, we can not answer questions about specific behaviors or individuals during the training. Please contact us for more information on these trainings.

We offer one on one parent and/or caregiver training to focus on a specific behavior that an individual may or may not be exhibiting. We work directly with parents and/or caregivers to target appropriate behaviors that we want to increase and/or inappropriate behaviors that should be decreased. These sessions are individualized based on the needs of the individual and the families. If you have specific questions or concerns about your child, we recommend one on one training sessions in conjunction with the monthly training sessions.
